Mr. President: The Plague Of A Nation By George Makeri

We are yet to get over the murder of Eunice Olawale Elisha of the Redeemed Christian Church of God by deranged Muslim fanatics in Kubwa Abuja sometimes last week, only to wake up this morning to another sad reminder of Madalla 25 December 2011.

Just yesterday 16 July 2016, another Catholic church in Madalla, St. Philips, close to St. Theresa that was bombed by Kabiru Sokoto on December 25, 2011, was destroyed by irate Muslim youths after the jumaat prayers, while assaulting virtually everybody in sight on the premises that Friday is a day of worship for strictly Muslims.

Whoever told them Christians have a day of worship when the scriptures say pray without ceasing. This is becoming the norm because we have a bigot and a sectionalist as a president. The fact that earlier perpetrators of such were never apprehended and brought to book is why we continue to see and may continue to see such lawlessness in this country. In that same Kubwa, a Muslim student with Bida Polytechnic used spikes to barter the head of one Emmanuel who is presently on admission in the hospital under heavy cost. The judge, a certain Marafa, found the student guilty of assault and sentenced him to one month in Prison or pay an option of a 5000 naira fine. This light sentence is like a pat on the back with the encouragement to go and do more evil against Christians in the future.

The criminal tendencies of Mr. President to look the other way while such evils hold sway across the country is hitched on his inability to keep his campaign promises. Fanning the flames of religious intolerance and extremism is Mr. President's only escape route from his executive miscalculations. Even members of the security forces are soaked in such sectional sentiments. Consider the case of the EFCC agent, Suleiman Kabiru, who assaulted FFK and threw away his Bible while he was in detention.

At least as Mr. President encourages Muslims to keep attacking Christians with his nonchalance towards such developments, a sharp religious suspicion will eclipse the minds of all citizens and widen the schism between the members of both major faiths in the country, making it impossible for Nigerians to unite and chase him out of Aso Rock. Otherwise, it could provoke retaliation from Christians and then series of reprisal attacks will follow that will throw Nigeria into total anarchy and keep Mr. President fully secured in power.

If Nigerians don't eject Mr. President now, Mr. President will eject Nigeria. It is satanic to hide behind religion to perpetrate evil.
