Oscar Pistorius Sentenced to 6 years in Pison
He faced up to 15 years in prison but the judge said there were “substantial and compelling reasons” to deviate from the 15-year minimum sentence, citing as one factor, the continuing misperception that Pistorius had intended to kill his girlfriend. She said a a long-term imprisonment will not serve justice as Oscar is already a broken man...a fallen hero.
The Steenkamp family looked stunned that Oscar only received 6 years but said nothing. And Oscar can be paroled for good behaviour after serving a 3rd of hissentence, which is just 2 years.
