Sexual misconduct: House of Reps summons US Ambassador, James Entwistle

The House of Representatives joint committee on Ethics and Privileges and Foreign Affairs, have summoned the US Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, to appear before it on Thursday 14th over the alleged sexual misconduct by some lawmakers during their visit to the US in April this year.

The US Ambassador had in a letter sent to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara in June, accused three members of the House, Samuel Ikon (PDP, Akwa Ibom), Mohammed Gololo (APC, Bauchi) and Mark Gbillah (APC, Benue), of sexual misconduct while they were on an official assignment in Cleveland, USA .

In the letter, Entwistle alleged that while the lawmakers lodged at Cleveland Hotel to attend the International Visitors Leadership Program, Gololo grabbed the housekeeper of the hotel they lodged in and solicited for sex while the other two lawmakers asked the hotel parking lot attendants to help them get prostitutes.

Their US visas have since been terminated.

The US Ambassador is expected to appear before the joint committee members alongside members of the Nation Humanrights Commission and the three accused lawmakers.
