21-year-old student becomes the youngest State Representative in Michigan


21-year-old Jewell Jones, a double major student of Political science and Finance at University of Michigan has become the youngest person to be elected as State Representative in Michigan, USA.

Last year at 20,  he made history as the youngest member of the Inkstar City Council. He will be replacing former state rep, Late Julie Plawecki who passed on suddenly earlier this year.
 He defeated his opponent, Robert Pope in the election gaining 66 votes against Robert's 33 votes.


Sharing the happy news on his Facebook page he wrote " WE WON THE ELECTION - YOU AND I MADE HISTORY, YET AGAIN. I'm looking forward to serving you all in a greater capacity. Please continue to pray for me, the team, and my colleagues as we move forward, together. Keep the faith my brothers and sisters."

Jewell is currently a member of the Black Student Union and Student Veteran Association. He is also in the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC).
