Kaduna Will Be Great Again - 339 By George Makeri

On the 5th of March, at Gwong Day, the governor decided to read this riot act when it was his turn to give a good will message:

"... We have noticed that there are groups and persons that have in the past made a living by promoting prejudice and specialising in incitement. They distort public discourse, corrupting every issue, policy or appointment as an outlet to vent religious, ethnic and sectional viewpoints...What we cannot allow is the continuation of such blackmail, the expectation that if you make yourself sufficiently obnoxious and incendiary the government will use public funds to settle you...".

Was there anybody as obnoxious and as incendiary as the governor while he was in the opposition and even now as governor. The governor can not look at himself in the mirror. He easily fret and start throwing invectives once you raise the mirror up to him for him to see a reflection of himself. The sight of himself scare him shit silly. Are statements like fulani loan repayment love speech? Is the statement Jesus Sleeping with Mary Magdalene love speech? What about justifying the activities of fulani terrorists in decimating hapless villagers? Does the governor wants us to join him in praising the fulani murderers before he sees us as agent of unity? What can foster unity better than being just and fair to all? When you let criminals go free and disturb honest citizens like Nasiru Jagaba with police invitation, what are you? When you elevate one with criminal tendency like Jimmy Lawal, and lock up an honest but vocal Doctor John Danfulani, what are you? When you appoint your sisters and female friends and Muslims in Christian climes against the dictates of the constitution that stress respect for the different peoples in that locality with respect to appointments, what are you? When you quickly mobilise against cattle rustlers because it will benefit your kinsmen and simply relax against human murderers because it will not benefit your kinsmen, what are you? Mallam El-Rufai, the issues are many against you and clearly shows who the real agent of division and hate speeches is. If you had been just and fair to all, you may never have heard from any of us. But your callous insensitivity will find us scrutinising. You enjoyed similar liberties when in the opposition and you will never succeed in your evil plans against the natives of Kaduna state.

Kaduna has veered off the realm of democracy with you at the helm of affairs. Democrats strive to serve the people and not to be served by the people. You want us to serve you. Mallam, we have only God and not man to serve. Democrats know they can't work without the people so they usually gauge public opinions. Even the military gauge public opinions sometimes before taking some major decisions, but here we have a malicious, sadistic and intractable governor who refuse to understand that democracy is built on policies made as a result of reasoning and persuasion of the public and not policies based on whims and caprices of an individual and enforced through coercion.

Men without ideas resort to violence. At the slightest opportunity, governor El-Rufai never ceases to threaten critics and vocal people. When Yero threatened him during the campaigns, we lampooned Yero for little understanding. But here we have El-Rufai (who we thought had better sense) throwing worse tantrums - one that can make a naughty and an unruly five-year-old to pause and look on in envy.  This sort of animal instincts and mindset are most unfortunate and unbecoming of a Governor, especially one who claimed to be well educated and exposed.

An educated and exposed person will find ways around issues than resorting to threats after threats against mandate givers as well as arresting and imprisoning critics. Clearly, El-Rufai has lost it and has declared war against the people he was elected to serve. Let's see what's with it with the police invitation to Nasiru Jagaba.
