LACK OF GOOD GOVERNANCE AND PURPOSEFUL LEADERSHIP ARE THE MAJOR CAUSES OF HARDSHIP IN KADUNA STATE. BY AMBROSE NUHU AWUGO

On the 29th September, 2016 the Governor of Kaduna  State Nasir Ahmad El-Rufa'i OFR transmitted a letter to Kaduna State House of Assembly (KDSHA) requesting the Honourable House  to Approve the extension of tenure of the 22 Interim Management Committee(IMC)chairmen in the state. The letter reads

" Iam pleased to extend my compliments and respectfully refer the Hon Speaker to the state Assembly's approval for the reconstitution of the 23 Local Government IMC conveyed via letter reference No. LEG/KD/S.216/VOl. T of 17th March, 2016.

The Honourable House may wish to be informed that in in our drive to ensure credible,  free and fair elections,  officials of the state Independent Electoral Commission recently made a presentation to the State Executive Council and recommended that Kaduna State adopt electronic voting. The commission visited Brazil and are also due to visit China with the view to initiating the process of indigenising the technology. Eventually, before these preparations are concluded,  the tenure of the IMC Chairmen would have lapsed".

MY QUESTIONS:

Was the 2015 Elections not  electronic voting?

Mr. El-rufa'i's dated 29th September 2016 said the state's election commission went to Brazil and China to indiginise the electronic voting system. Has he forgotten his law that said Kaduna State is a no-man's land?

Will I be right to say that the present IMC are playing the script well hence their renewal of their tenure?

Can somebody kindly remind me what Mr.El-rufa'i  said about Local Government elections and autonomy during his campaigns?

Thanks.
