Super Eagles skipper, John Obi Mikel has warned his teammates that there was still  a long way to go in qualifying for the 2018 FIFA  World Cup in Russia  despite defeating Algeria 3-1 in Uyo on Saturday.
Nigeria are currently  top    of  Group B with six points, four  ahead of second-placed Cameroun who were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Zambia in the other group fixture.  Nigeria still need at least eight more points to  secure qualification for Russia 2018 And the 29 year-old midfielder, who was also pleased to get on the score sheet during the game, urged his side not to be carried away by their feat against the Fennecs.

Mikel, who hasn’t featured for Chelsea this season, doubled the lead on the stroke of half time, when he beat the offside trap to send Algerian goalie Rais M’Bolhi the wrong way as they maintain ed  their unbeaten run under coach Gernot Rohr. Mikel tweeted via his handle:  @mikel_ john_obi:” What a night, what a win! Three points, top of the group, and a goal! Still a long way to go but WE BELIEVE #SuperEagles #Russia2018
